What are the Hinch Distillery opening hours?

Hinch Distillery Whiskey Tours:


High Season - June to Sept

Monday to Friday 1st Tour starts 10.00am, final tour starts 5.00pm
Saturday 1st Tour starts 10.00am, final tour starts 5.30pm
Sunday 1st Tour starts 11.00am, final tour starts 5.30pm

Gin School Experience Tours:

Available for pre-booking on our website Thursday to Saturday each week – tour commences 7.00pm. Tours will commence from 1st August onwards and can be booked now.

Please note between 3.30pm – 5.00pm each day we are only serving Teas, Coffees, Drinks, Scones & Pastries.

Note last orders for food service/table bookings is 90 minutes before closing times as stated above.

The Hinch Distillery is open 7 days a week. We’re open all year round apart from 25th & 26th December.

Where are you located?

The Hinch Distillery is on the main road leading from Belfast to Newcastle (Mountains of Mourne), approximately 20 – 30 minutes from Belfast’s City Centre (depending on traffic). Click here for directions.

How do I book tickets?

Do I have to book in advance?

We highly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. We have a limited number of spaces on each tour and often sell out in advance. In addition, we would advise booking for Hinch Brasserie so not to be disappointed, this can be done easily on the App ‘Res Diary’ or by calling +44 2892 791180.

Can I book the Hinch Distillery for an event?

Yes, you can we have options to book various meeting and event spaces during the day as well as options to rent our function spaces for larger events after our normal opening hours. Can I just arrive at the Hinch Distillery without a booking?

You can arrive at the Distillery without a booking for either a tour or the Brasserie however we cannot guarantee availability particularly at peak times. We will do our very best to get you on the next available tour or a table within the Brasserie but we would advise booking in advance.

What is the best way to the Hinch Distillery by public transport?

If travelling from Belfast City you can get an Ulster Bus from Adelaide Street, number 520, journey time approximately 30 minutes – there is a bus stop on the main road opposite the Distillery.

Is there car and/or coach parking available?

Yes, there is a fairly spacious car park including spaces specifically for coaches. Car parking spaces are on a first come first served basis and unfortunately cannot be pre-booked.

How long do tours last?

The Whiskey tour lasts approximately 60 minutes including the tasting. The Gin School Experience tour is approximately 90 minutes including the tasting.

Are the tours guided?

Yes- all of our tours are fully-guided by one of our Hinch Distillery Guides.

I can no longer make my tour, is it possible to reschedule?

No problem but please let us know as soon as possible so we can resell the tickets as we have a limited number of spaces on each tour. To reschedule please contact our reservations team on on +44 2892 791180 or reception@hinchdistillery.com. Please note that unfortunately we cannot offer refunds unless under exceptional circumstances.

What if I am late for my tour?

If you arrive up to 10 min after your tour-time we will try our very best to have you catch up with the tour. If you arrive after this time unfortunately you will not be able to join you scheduled tour. However, we will do our very best to get you on the next available tour. We recommend that you arrive 10 mins prior to your scheduled tour time.

Can children come on the tour?

Children are welcome to accompany you on the tour. Children under 18 year olds are offered a concession price of £10 each and we offer them a soft drink whilst you enjoy your Hinch Whiskey tasting.

I don’t drink alcohol, do you have any alternatives for me?

We offer a range of soft drinks to any adult non-Whiskey drinkers as an alternative during the Whiskey tasting.

I don’t have time to take the tour, but I would like to do a whiskey tasting, is this possible?

Yes, we offer Whiskey tastings at the Hinch Brasserie & Bar every day which includes the choice of either a flight of two or four from our whiskey range – please enquire either at Reception or the Hinch Brasserie.

I am new to drinking whiskey is there a tasting option you think would be suitable for me?

If you are new to Whiskey we would highly recommend the Hinch Classic Tasting flight which includes our Small Batch & 5 Yr Old Whiskeys. If you would like to try a few different styles of Hinch Whiskey we would recommend the Hinch Premium Tasting flight which includes the Small Batch, 5 Yr Old and 2 more limited edition whiskies from our range.

Do I need to bring a printed copy of my booking confirmation?

Please bring either a physical or digital copy of your booking confirmation. If you have forgotten, then provide your name and email address that the booking was placed under at reception and we can locate it within our system.

Do I have to purchase a ticket to visit the Hinch Brasserie or Hinch Gift Shop?

No, everyone is welcome to both The Hinch Brasserie and Hinch Gift Shop although we would recommend booking a table for the Brasserie in advance.

Can I take photos and videos inside the distillery?

Of course! We’d love to see photos of your visit. Please tag us with the #HinchDistillery, #HinchWhiskey or #NinthWaveIrishGin hashtags.

Is there a discounted rate for large groups?

We may be able to offer a discount for larger groups, please contact us in advance via our reservations team on +44 2892 791180 or reception@hinchdistillery.com.

What is the maximum number of people you can book on a group tour?

Due to NI government restrictions/recommendations for social distancing we are currently reducing the maximum numbers per tour to 10. The maximum number of people we can take on a tour under normal circumstances is 16 for the safety and comfort of our guests. If your group is in excess of 16 we will divide the group into smaller groups with a 30 min gap between each group. All groups should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment. Are there tours offered in different languages?

We can offer tours in a selection of European languages for groups of a minimum of 12 or more when booked well in advance. Please note availability for this service is limited. For all individuals on an English speaking tour we have printed guides in French, Spanish, Italian and German to assist you during your tour.

Is your Hinch Distillery wheelchair accessible?

Yes. We have lifts in the building which gives access to all stages of the tour.

What if I want to do a different tour?

You can upgrade to one of our other tour & tastings at reception for an additional cost.

Are Hinch whiskeys vegan-friendly?

Yes, they are as we don’t use milk, honey, or any other animal products in any of our Whiskey.

I’m gluten-intolerant/coeliac. Can I drink Hinch Whiskey or Ninth Wave Irish Gin?

Technically speaking, yes. Even Whiskeys & Gins produced from gluten grains (barley, rye, wheat) are gluten-free as all gluten molecules are removed during the process of distillation.

I’m allergic to wheat. Can I drink Hinch Whiskey or Ninth Wave Irish Gin?

Yes - all of our Whiskeys & Gins are both wheat and gluten free.

Standard Returns Policy

Our standard returns policy for items purchased is 30 days. This applies to all online and in-store purchases, except in case of sale items where you have 14 days to return (exclusions apply). If the item is unused, in its original packaging and accompanied by a valid proof of purchase, we’ll offer a full refund.

Sale Items

For items purchased in our sale, we'll be happy to either refund or exchange an item if you change your mind within 14 days of receipt (store returns only). This is in addition to your statutory rights.

Final Sale items

For final clearance sale items purchased online, we will be happy to offer a refund or an exchange (store returns only) within 14 days of receiving them. Clearance sale items purchased in store cannot be returned. Your statutory rights are not affected.

Experiences

All distillery experience purchases such as tours and tastings are final sale and cannot be returned for a refund. If the original date booked is no longer suitable, please contact a member of our team who will be happy to rearrange your date. This cannot be done within 24hrs of the tour taking place.

When will I get my refund?

The refund will be issued to the original payment card usually within 3-5 working days of processing your return.

Gifts will be refunded by credit receipt which can be issued there and then in store. If you do not have the receipt or order summary, we’ll give you the last known price of the item in the form of a credit receipt.

There is a problem with the quality of my purchase, what can I do?

We’re really sorry about that.

If you bought the item in store: You can take the item back to store with a valid receipt and our staff will be happy to help. If you bought the item online: Please call us if you can't find the relevant details in our Contact us pages.

Purchases made via authorised retailers:

We cannot process returns for items purchased via authorised retailers of our products. If you experience issues with products purchased elsewhere you should contact the store of purchase and follow their returns policy.

I’ve lost my receipt. Can I still get a refund?

If you purchased instore and opted for a paper receipt, as there is no proof of the original payment method, we’ll refund the amount to a credit receipt. Please note: you’ll only receive the current selling price, which may differ to the amount you paid if the item has since gone on sale.

If you opted for a e-Receipt you can print this and take this with you into store.

What is the credit receipt policy?

Credit receipts are valid for 12 months from the date they’re issued – the expiry date is clearly printed on the receipt – and can only be used in store. Please note: we can’t replace or extend lost, damaged or expired receipts.

I’ve exceeded the 30-day limit for a full refund – what can I do?

Our standard return policy for anything you buy from us is 30 days. This applies to both online and in-store purchases, except in case of sale items. You have 14 days for sale items bought online, unless otherwise stated; If you bought the item in store: Your receipt will no longer be valid. We’ll give you a credit receipt for the item’s last known selling price, unless it’s faulty. If the item has gone into the sale since you bought it and you don’t have a valid receipt, you’ll be given a credit receipt for the sale price.

Can I return a gift?

Yes. You can return your item to store with a valid gift receipt and we will be happy to issue a credit receipt or offer an exchange.

Is there anything that can’t be returned (Exclusions)?

We cannot accept returns on the following items: Perishable items such as food, plants, drinks and fresh flowers, face coverings, gift cards, hampers, personalised items and any products with a seal, where the seal is broken.

Gift cards/ eGiftcards /vouchers cannot be returned or exchanged for cash. Returned items which are not in new or unused condition may not be fully credited to your account unless they are faulty. This does not affect your right to return faulty items.

These products can only be returned in accordance with your statutory rights.
